SCHEDULE a free 15-minute call to get started.

Coaching sessions can include discussion of these topics and more, with “homework”—tasks my clients complete for their book in advance of a coaching session. Sessions can also include review of new material a chapter or section at a time, with written feedback and discussion.

Coaching sessions are 30 or 60 minutes by phone or videoconference with Facetime, Zoom, or Skype. Sessions are paid ahead and can be divided over several weeks. You can use a package spread over several weeks or work with me hourly, as needed.

Package I: 3 hours: $485
Package II: 6 hours: $895

Coaching: Hourly $165, Half-hour $85

The topics of coaching sessions are individualized to suit your needs.

Writers are as unique as their projects and much of what’s needed is discovered once a coaching program is underway. Here are a few of the ways writers benefit by working with me as their writing coach.

For Writers Starting a Memoir

I offer creative solutions. We’ll uncover your storyline (plot) and identify your story’s themes and key turning points so you have that to build the book around.

For Writers With a Memoir in Progress

Writers with a book in progress benefit by my review of chapters as they’re written. I help writers stay true to their outline or stated goals for their book, help them maintain a consistent tone, provide feedback on pacing, character development, and the balance of scene and narration. Chapter review is done by emailing material as a Word or Pages doc in advance of our session. Our session is devoted to discussion of that material and the written notes I return to you before our call.

For Writers of Nonfiction Books

Informational, self-help, and how-to books require a format appropriate to their topic. We address that format, create or tweak the outline as needed, and continue with manuscript review as the book develops.

How Coaching Is Done

Coaching sessions are done by telephone or in my online office using Zoom, a free online video conferencing service, Skype, or Facetime. Coaching sessions are once a week or twice a month and are 30 or 60 minutes. I recommend setting a regular time that works with your schedule and contributes a sense of consistency and accountability.

What Coaching Sessions Include

• A scheduled 30- or 60-minute weekly or bimonthly call for discussion of any topic of the author’s choice at a regular, repeating time.

• Review of any written material emailed in advance of our scheduled call. This review is billed separately from the call and at the same rate.

• Optional video or audio recordings of the coaching sessions emailed to you (if the session is done on Zoom).

What Coaching Sessions Do Not Include

• I do not edit your written material. (See my editing services for that kind of help.)

• I do not act as an agent for your book, although I can provide recommended resources for you.

How Coaching Sessions Are Paid

Coaching packages provide a discount on the hourly fee and can be used in 30- and 60-minute sessions within 90 days (3 months) of purchase. SIGN UP below for the package you’d like. Next, schedule your first coaching appointment in the box below.
